Job summary

The Goddard School located at: 727 N Milwaukee, Chicago IL, 60642, is seeking a motivated and caring Founding Assistant Teacher to join our River West location. You’ll be the first to teach in our new school and work with families in a supportive, sunlight-filled setting.

As a Founding Assistant Teacher, you’ll assist the Lead Teacher, implement engaging activities, and help create a safe, stimulating environment using our curriculum. Join a collaborative team and grow with us.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Lead Qualified or willing to obtain upon hire.
• Experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool.
• Empathy and compassion for young children.
• Ability to work productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in handling children.
• Must pass state background checks and meet state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans using Wonder of Learning Curriculum.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about child progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
