Job summary

The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches in Boynton Beach, FL seeks a dedicated Preschool Teacher Assistant for the Early Childhood Learning Center. You will assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing curriculum, engage with families, and monitor growth and development under supervision.

Three years of group education experience and an Associate’s Degree with a 45-hour DCF training are required, plus CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain. Familiarity with Judaic knowledge is valued.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in group education of children.
• Associate's Degree & 45 hour DCF training course in child care or the educational exemption.
• Completes a minimum of ten hours or one CEU in-service training per year.
• Meets Florida DOH requirements for teaching in an Early Childhood Learning Center.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to acquire it.
• Knowledge of growth and development of young children and ability to apply it in the classroom.

• Provides and supervises activities promoting development across emotional, social, intellectual and physical domains.
• Maintains a neat, organized classroom with learning centers and prepares setup before arrival; cleans after dismissal.
• Takes responsibility for upkeep of educational equipment and materials.
• Documents children's play and learning through reflections, journey binders, blogs and newsletters.
• Reads each child’s file and is knowledgeable about medical and developmental histories.
• Nurtures physical, spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive and literary growth.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by Lead Teacher and Director.

Job description

The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is looking to hire a dedicated Preschool Teacher for the Early Childhood Learning Center at the Mandel JCC in Boynton Beach, Florida.The Assistant Teacher is responsible for working with the Lead Teacher in their assigned class of children in planning and implementing the curriculum, working with parents, and assessing the needs of individual children under the guidance of the Lead Teacher and Director of Early Learning. The curriculum must meet the emotional, physical, cognitive & social needs for both the individual child and the group. Work is supervised by the Lead Teacher and Early Childhood Director on a limited basis, as necessary. Work schedule is generally full-time 30 - 40 hours during each work week Monday Friday during the months of August June each school year.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Greets each child in a warm and friendly manner;Provides and supervises activities which promote the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child;Provides and maintains a neat, organized classroom, with a learning center focus ensuring classroom is set up prior to arrival and cleaned up after dismissal daily; take responsibility for upkeep of all educational equipment and materials;Attends to childrens play, engages in reflection and discussion about childrens growth and learning, respond to childrens play themes and developmental themes;Documents childrens play and learning, including daily reflections, journey binders, blog, newsletters and other vehicles implemented by the school;Reads each individual childs files in his/her class and is knowledgeable about their medical and developmental histories;Nurtures physical, spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive and literary growth and development of each child;Performs additional program duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher and Director according to the school and agency needs.Three (3) years experience in group education of children;Associate's Degree & 45 hour DCF training course in child care or the educational exemption granted by the training coordinating agencies, when applicable;Completes a minimum of ten (10) hour or one (1) CEU in-service training per year starting July 1st and ending June 30th each year;Meet Florida Department of Health requirements for teaching in an Early Childhood Learning Center;CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to acquire it;Working knowledge of the growth and development of young children and ability to utilize this information in the classroom;Good oral and written communication skills.
