Job summary

The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches in Boynton Beach is seeking an experienced Lead Teacher for its Early Childhood Learning Center. The role involves collaborating with an Assistant Teacher to plan and implement curriculum, and to assess individual child needs while engaging with families.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of group education experience, a relevant degree, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Overview

The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is seeking an experienced, dedicated Lead Teacher for its Early Childhood Learning Center in Boynton Beach. The Lead Teacher works with an Assistant Teacher to plan and implement curriculum, collaborate with parents, and assess individual child needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing, child‑centered learning environment developmentally appropriate to the age and growth level of the children assigned, enhancing skills and self‑concepts.
• Attend to children’s physical and emotional needs (e.g., changing diapers, making bottles, ensuring safety during meals).
• Establish positive partnerships with parents through newsletters, daily reports, theme lesson plans, and parent conferences.
• Edit lesson plans and unit plans to meet the interests and needs of the children.
• Observe, record, and report on individual and group behavior; maintain records and files as instructed (attendance, behavior records).
• Keep inventory of classroom supplies and notify the office when supplies are needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years’ experience in group education of children.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree and 45‑hour DCF training course in child care, or the educational exemption granted by the training coordinating agencies.
• Meeting Florida Department of Health requirements for teaching in an Early Childhood Learning Center.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to acquire it.
• Knowledge of Palm Beach County Health Department rules and regulations governing child care facilities.
• Judaic knowledge or willingness to acquire this knowledge through study.
• Ability and desire to relate to young children and adults in an emotionally responsive manner.
• Proven experience working well in a team environment and collaborating with colleagues and community members.
