Job summary

The White Bear Area YMCA is seeking an Assistant Swim Team Coach to work with the swim program in White Bear Lake, MN. This on-site role supports the Head Coach by providing instruction, feedback, and a safe learning environment for participants.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.
Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR + AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Principles and Practice of Swimming and Diving, ARC Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
Ability to hear noises and distress signals in aquatic environments.
Ability to see and observe all sections of the assigned zone of responsibility.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage and deliver programs to a diverse population.
Ability to serve as a positive role model and provide constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

Provide swim team coaching instruction to participants of various ages and abilities under the Head Swim Coach.
Maintain constant observation of participants, watch for swimmers needing assistance, and aid as needed.
Develop weekly workout plans for practice groups as appropriate.
Serve as first point of contact, responding to and documenting incidents.
Provide high quality customer service to members, volunteers, and participants.
