Job description

This supervisory position includes skilled maintenance and construction work; the position is the lead worker and also supervises the work of others in the performance of assigned duties in the area of Grounds / Building Maintenance or Forestry.
Supervision
Received	Grounds Supervisor / Buildings & Facilities Supervisor/ Forestry supervisor
Exercised	Supervises up to 15 full time employees (or full time equivalent/seasonal and part time)

Schedule: M-F, 7am-330pm, Required occasional nights and weekends for emergencies and business needs
Starting salary: Depending on qualifications, $32.7158- $39.2966/hour ($68,048.86 - $81,736.89 annually)

Plans, assigns and coordinates in planning daily assignments for full time, and part time and seasonal employees. Works with direct supervisor in setting daily and weekly job assignments. Inspects and checks work of crews. Monitors the safe use of tools, equipment and other machinery and corrects and/or stops any unsafe practices. Prepares and keeps records of work assignments and work performed. Reports performance or work-related issues to supervisor as needed; prepares written reports as required. Uses hand and power tools as needed; operates power equipment, e.g., mowers, tractors, loaders, trucks, etc. Ensures that mechanical repairs and maintenance work is performed as needed on all equipment. Makes recommendations on hiring applicants; may serve on interview panel. Attends weekly operations meetings. Trains full-time, part-time and seasonal staff. Set up and take down for Special Events. May require evening, weekend and holiday work hours. Grounds: Performs all aspects of grounds maintenance including turf and plant material installation and maintenance; grounds maintenance of athletic fields, playground equipment, ice rinks and toboggan run. Snow plowing; rubbish collection. Buildings: Performs all aspects of buildings and facilities maintenance and repairs including HVAC, plumbing and maintenance on park buildings, shelters, swimming pools, athletic courts, playground equipment, ice rinks and toboggan run. Snow plowing and rubbish collection. Works with outside vendors and contractors on planning, bids and site visits. Marks underground utilities within parks. Forestry: Performs all aspects of forestry division duties including but not limited to, planting and new tree layout, pruning, removals and repairs. Diagnosis and Insect and disease treatment, tree condition assessment, surveys, inventories, and snow plowing. Operate aerial trucks, chippers, stumpers, loaders and dump trucks. Complete Specialized assignments as directed.

Requirements of Work
Graduation from college or technical/trade school with the equivalent of an Associate's Degree plus at least 4 years of experience in Buildings maintenance/ Grounds maintenance or Forestry operations including at least 1 year of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills:
Knowledge of	Materials, methods, practices, techniques and equipment used in grounds maintenance / building maintenance or forestry. Occupational hazards and safety precautions. Applicable rules, regulations, codes, ordinances and safety standards that govern the performance of the duties being performed. The use of general office equipment including computers and related software.
Ability to	Interpret plans and specifications. Understand and carry out instructions. Plan, assign and supervise the work of others. Keep accurate records. Perform light to heavy physical tasks under varying weather conditions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers and the general public.
Skill in	Oral and written communications. Leadership and organization. The use of power tools, equipment, machinery and vehicles used in the performance of the essential job functions.
Necessary Special Requirements
Commercial Driver's License (Class BCD, A and Endorsement N preferred) within 1 year of hire. Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facilities Operator (Buildings). Confined Space within 1 year of hire* (Buildings). Secure and maintain a Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Category 3, Ornamentals and Turf within 1 year of hire (Grounds and Forestry). Ability to pass pre and post hire drug and alcohol screens and background check. First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 1 year of hire.* Forklift Certification within 1 year of hire.* *Actual completion is dependent on the timing of the annual group staff training cycles.
