Job summary

Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is seeking an Assistant Supervising Attorney to lead the Adams-team in the Denver Housing Unit, guiding staff of attorneys, paralegals, and social workers to secure housing stability for low-income residents.

The role includes supervising, training, strategic planning, grant management, and ensuring effective client service while maintaining a modest caseload. Internal candidates only.

Qualifications

• Valid license to practice law in Colorado or ability to obtain license soon
• Experience in housing law from tenant’s attorney perspective
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Guide the legal work of the team with the Supervising Attorney
• Assist in staff training, professional development, and performance evaluation
• Assist in strategic planning and goal setting for the team and unit
• Coordinate and implement systemic housing work and community outreach
• Lead hiring of team members and assist in hiring for other units
• Oversee workloads, client relations, and interpersonal conflict; recommend performance actions per the Collective Bargaining Agreement
• Maintain an active but not full caseload
• Assist with grant management and clinic administration; liaise with grantors and court staff
• Complete administrative tasks such as leave approvals, timesheet reviews, and reimbursements

Skills
