Job summary

Colorado Legal Services in Denver seeks an Assistant Supervising Attorney to lead the Adams-team within the Denver Housing Unit. You will guide staff, oversee workloads, and collaborate with the Supervising Attorney to ensure effective representation for low-income Coloradans on housing matters.

Ideal candidates bring experience in housing law from the tenant’s view, strong communication, and the ability to train staff while managing strategic unit goals and grants-related activities.

Qualifications

• Active Colorado bar license or ability to obtain Colorado license promptly.
• Experience in housing law from a tenant’s perspective.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Guide the legal work of the team in partnership with the Supervising Attorney.
• Participate in staff training, professional development, and performance reviews.
• Assist in strategic planning and goal setting for the unit.
• Coordinate systemic housing work and community outreach.
• Lead hiring for the team and assist in hiring on other teams.
• Oversee workloads, client relations, and conflict resolution; advise on performance improvements per CLS’ Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Maintain an active but not full caseload.
• Assist with grant management activities and grant reporting.
• Complete administrative tasks such as leave approvals, timesheet reviews, and reimbursements.
