EWI Recruitment seeks an Assistant Superintendent to travel across multiple project sites, supporting the successful delivery of commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction. You will assist with daily field operations, monitor progress, review plans and schedules, and resolve field issues while ensuring projects remain on budget.
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent – Traveling to support the successful delivery of construction projects across multiple locations. This role is suited to a hands-on construction professional who can adapt quickly to changing environments, maintain high standards of quality and safety, and work effectively with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients. Extensive travel and temporary assignments at project sites will be required.
Responsibilities include assisting the Superintendent with daily field operations, coordinating subcontractor activities, monitoring work progress, and helping ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget. You will review plans, specifications, and schedules; help identify and resolve field issues; participate in inspections and quality-control processes; and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation. The role also involves supporting site logistics, material deliveries, equipment coordination, site organization, and enforcement of established safety procedures. You may lead portions of the work in the Superintendent’s absence and provide clear updates regarding progress, risks, and required corrective actions.
Applicants should have several years of experience in commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or similarly complex construction environments, with a strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, plans, specifications, and applicable building and safety regulations. Experience coordinating multiple trades and reading project schedules is essential. Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions under pressure. Proficiency with common project-management and scheduling software is preferred. A relevant trade qualification, technical diploma, or degree in construction management or a related discipline is an advantage. A valid driver’s licence, flexibility to travel extensively, and willingness to work varied hours, including occasional weekends or extended shifts, are required.
