Job summary

ARCO Design/Build is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to oversee field activities, coordinate subcontractors, and help drive project success from planning through execution. You will work with seasoned professionals and gain exposure to the full lifecycle of projects, with an emphasis on safety, schedule, and quality.

Qualifications

• Accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering.
• Interest in design/build and tilt-up concrete, industrial builds.
• Previous construction experience preferred but not required.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Project.
• Excellent verbal communication, attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction planning: attend post-award meetings and assist with planning before work begins.
• Project scheduling: work with Project Manager to develop construction schedules, sequencing, staffing plans, and equipment needs.
• Field leadership: oversee daily construction activities, ensure safety, schedule, budget, and specs.
• Subcontractor coordination: manage subcontractor activities and coordinate across trades.

A Day In The Life

As an Assistant Superintendent, every day brings a new lesson. You’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of a project while working alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your growth.

Here's What You Can Expect

• Preconstruction Planning – Attend post-award meetings to review project details and assist with construction planning before work begins.
• Project Scheduling – Work with the Project Manager to develop construction schedules, sequencing, staffing plans, and equipment needs.
• Field Leadership – Oversee daily construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications.
• Subcontractor Coordination – Manage subcontractor activities, communicate schedule updates, and ensure work is properly coordinated across trades.

Necessary Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming completion of an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• A strong interest in the construction process, specifically design/build, tilt-up concrete, industrial builds, etc.
• Previous experience in construction preferred, but not required
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required
• Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
• Valid Drivers License
