Job summary

ARCO Design/Build is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to oversee field operations, coordinate subcontractors, and support preconstruction planning. You will work with experienced professionals, gain exposure to full project lifecycles, and help ensure safety, schedule, and budget adherence.

This role emphasizes on-site leadership, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to high-quality construction. A strong team culture, ongoing growth, and mentorship are key features of this opportunity.

Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming completion of an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required
• Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction Planning - Attend post-award meetings to review project details and assist with construction planning before work begins.
• Project Scheduling - Work with the Project Manager to develop construction schedules, sequencing, staffing plans, and equipment needs.
• Field Leadership - Oversee daily construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications.
• Subcontractor Coordination - Manage subcontractor activities, communicate schedule updates, and ensure work is properly coordinated across trades.

Here’s What You Can Expect

Necessary Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming completion of an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• A strong interest in the construction process, specifically design/build, tilt-up concrete, industrial builds, etc.
• Previous experience in construction preferred, but not required
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required
• Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
• Valid Drivers License
