ARCO Design/Build is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for Indianapolis, IN, to join our growing team. This entry‑level role focuses on hands‑on field leadership, safety, and learning the full lifecycle of a design/build project.

You will collaborate with experienced pros to develop schedules, oversee work, and coordinate subcontractors on tilt‑up and industrial builds. The ideal candidate has a recent degree in Civil/Construction or related field, strong communication, and a genuine interest

Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming completion of an accredited civil, mechanical, architectural, construction management, building science, or construction engineering undergrad/grad program.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction planning: review project details and assist with planning before work begins.
• Project scheduling: work with the Project Manager to develop schedules, sequencing, staffing, and equipment needs.
• Field leadership: oversee daily construction activities to ensure safety, schedule, and budget compliance.
• Subcontractor coordination: manage subcontractor activities and ensure proper coordination across trades.

A Day in the Life:

As an Assistant Superintendent , every day brings a new lesson. You’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of a project while working alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your growth.

Here's what you can expect:

• Preconstruction Planning – Attend post-award meetings to review project details and assist with construction planning before work begins.
• Project Scheduling – Work with the Project Manager to develop construction schedules, sequencing, staffing plans, and equipment needs.
• Field Leadership – Oversee daily construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications.
• Subcontractor Coordination – Manage subcontractor activities, communicate schedule updates, and ensure work is properly coordinated across trades.

Necessary Qualifications:

• Recent or upcoming completion of an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• A strong interest in the construction process, specifically design/build, tilt-up concrete, industrial builds, etc.
• Previous experience in construction preferred, but not required
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required
• Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
• Valid Drivers License
