Job summary

ARCO Design/Build in Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant Superintendent (New Grad 2027) to gain hands-on field leadership across the full project lifecycle. You’ll work with seasoned professionals, supporting preconstruction planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and cost tracking to ensure safety and on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates in civil, mechanical, architecture, construction management, building science, or construction engineering.

Qualifications

• Recent or soon-to-be graduate of an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• Strong interest in the construction process, design/build, tilt-up concrete, industrial builds
• Previous experience in construction preferred, but not required
• Possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in your state of residence
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required
• Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction Planning: Attend post-award meetings to review project details and assist with construction planning before work begins
• Project Scheduling: Develop construction schedules, sequencing, staffing plans, and equipment needs with the Project Manager
• Field Leadership: Oversee daily construction activities to ensure safety, schedule, budget, and specifications
• Subcontractor Coordination: Manage subcontractor activities and coordinate across trades
• Material & Equipment Management: Assist with material deliveries, equipment coordination, and submittals
• Progress & Cost Tracking: Help prepare progress reports and monitor project costs
• Owner & Design Team Communication: Maintain regular communications with owners, architects, and stakeholders
• Jobsite Meetings: Lead and participate in coordination meetings with project team members
• Documentation: Maintain accurate daily reports and site records
• Safety Leadership: Enforce the safety program and maintain a safe jobsite
• Team Collaboration: Align office and field operations to deliver projects

• Progress & Cost Tracking– Help prepare job progress reports, review field purchase orders and invoices, and monitor project costs.
• Owner & Design Team Communication– Maintain regular communication with owners, architects, and project stakeholdersregardingproject progress and field activities.
• Jobsite Meetings– Lead andparticipatein jobsite coordination meetings with project managers, regional managers, subcontractors, and other project team members.
• Documentation– Maintainaccuratedaily reports and jobsite records, including project activities, site conditions, visitors, and key project decisions.
• Safety Leadership– Promote and enforce the company's safety program whilemaintaininga safe, productivejobsitefor all team members.
• Team Collaboration– Partner with Project Managers and field teams to understand how office and field operations work together to successfully deliver projects.

Every day as a Superintendent is different, but you'll play a key role in keeping projects safe, organized, and on schedule.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
