Assistant Superintendent - Multifamily Poughkeepsie

Salary: $85,000-$120,000 + bonus

A well-established construction and development firm is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join their team and support the construction of a major multifamily development in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The project is a $100M+ 150 unit multifamily development combining new construction with the adaptive reuse of an existing historic structure.

The Superintendent will work directly alongside the Lead Superintendent and project management team, helping oversee day-to-day field operations, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Superintendent with daily field operations and overall project execution
• Coordinate subcontractors and multiple trades to ensure work is progressing according to plans, specifications, and schedule
• Monitor daily manpower, productivity, site logistics, and construction progress
• Conduct regular site walks to identify quality, safety, scheduling, and coordination issues
• Review construction drawings and specifications and assist with resolving field conflicts
• Assist with construction sequencing, layout, and coordination between trades
• Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, site logistics, and upcoming work activities
• Communicate with subcontractors regarding schedules, manpower, sequencing, and site requirements
• Assist with inspections and ensure work is completed in accordance with project specifications
• Maintain daily reports and document project progress
• Assist with punch list, closeout, and turnover activities
• Work closely with the Lead Superintendent, Project Manager, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction experience in a field-based role
• Experience as an Assistant Superintendent, #2 Superintendent, Project Engineer, or similar position
• Experience with multifamily, residential, mixed-use, or commercial construction
• Ground-up construction experience preferred
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades
• OSHA 30 or other relevant safety certifications preferred
• Proficiency with construction management software preferred
