Job summary

Miramont Country Club in Bryan, Texas, seeks a motivated 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the Agronomy leadership team in maintaining championship‑level playing conditions and grounds. This hands‑on role offers growth in turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and construction exposure tied to the Golf Course Master Plan beginning Fall 2028.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) pesticide applicator license within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to safely operate golf course maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends and holidays in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to organize daily tasks, follow instructions and lead by example.
• Willingness to learn new turfgrass management techniques, equipment and maintenance practices.
• Preferred: Associate's degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field.
• Preferred: 13 years of golf course maintenance experience.
• Preferred: previous supervisory or crew leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily golf course maintenance, setup and conditioning to ensure championship‑level playing standards.
• Supervises, trains and directs grounds maintenance staff while promoting productivity, accountability and teamwork.
• Assists with planning and executing daily, weekly and seasonal maintenance programs.
• Monitors turf health, moisture levels, pest activity and overall course conditions.
• Performs pesticide and fertilizer applications, equipment calibration and accurate recordkeeping.
• Assists with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, hand‑watering and system repairs.
• Performs turfgrass management practices, including aerification, verticutting, topdressing and overseeding.
• Operates specialized turf equipment and maintains consistent mowing practices, bunker conditions and course presentation.
• Supports tournament preparation, course improvement projects and championship‑level turf conditioning.
• Assists with golf course renovation and construction projects, including irrigation installation, turfgrass establishment, bunker renovations and landscape improvements.
• Collaborates with Agronomy leadership and project teams throughout the Golf Course Master Plan renovation to gain hands‑on construction and project coordination experience.
• Promotes workplace safety, proper equipment operation and adherence to Club standards.
• Assumes additional leadership responsibilities and performs other duties as assigned.
