Job summary

Make Golf Your Career is seeking a 2nd Assistant Superintendent to assist the Golf Course Superintendent in managing all aspects of golf course maintenance and landscaping at our facility in Florida. The role emphasizes agronomics, fertilizer and chemical application, and sprayer/spreader operation.

The position requires strong communication, independent work capabilities, and flexibility to work varied hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Polite and professional communication with guests, members, customers, and staff.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Enrolled in a degree in Golf Management or Agronomy or 5+ years related experience.
• Driver's License, current and valid.
• Knowledge of agronomics and fertilizer/chemical application, and operation of sprayers and spreaders.
• Willingness to work varied hours including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and events.

Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out golf maintenance policies.
• Assist in delegating work and monitoring performance.
• Work under the Golf Course Superintendent and be accountable for the maintenance budget.
• Assist in hiring, training, supervising, disciplining, and terminating employees.
• Monitor operation of the maintenance dept, scheduling, agronomic concerns, safety, and equipment maintenance.
• Supervise the maintenance of the golf courses.
• Oversee completion of work assignments and assist with field decisions.
• Perform actual labor on the golf course as needed.
• Enforce safe working conditions and instruct staff on proper equipment use.
• Supervise special projects and labor crews as directed by the Superintendent or Director of Operations.
• Report golf course conditions and disciplinary problems to the Superintendent or Director of Operations.
• Assist with staff scheduling and payroll processing.
• Communicate with co-workers in golf maintenance and other departments.
• Coordinate equipment and tool maintenance with facilities manager.
• Enforce company policies and procedures.
• Assist with departmental administration per handbook and policies.
• Provide professional advice and services for the betterment of the golf course.
• Develop written operating policies, preventive maintenance plans, fertilizer schedules, and course condition schedules, track task completion.
• Help protect golf facility assets including facilities and equipment.
