Job summary

Walbridge is expanding its team to hire a Construction Assistant Superintendent for large-scale facilities, including data center projects. You will oversee the full project lifecycle from feasibility through completion, developing strategies, plans, and budgets while assembling qualified project teams.

Based on a long-term project in Van Buren Township, MI, you may be located anywhere in the US and travel to client sites on a long-term basis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years supervisory experience in facility construction.
• Experience on Commercial or Industrial projects with budgets of at least $15M.
• Experience in MEP, Concrete, Steel, Underground Utilities, Fire Alarm, Building Finishes and Enclosure systems.
• Valid US driver's license and passport; willingness to travel up to 70%.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise construction activities; determine methods, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules.
• Coordinate work with crafts and contractors; manage unions and resolve construction problems.
• Monitor safety programs; ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support schedules.
• Engage with executives, clients, and vendors to ensure alignment and address concerns.
• Track project progress with metrics and reporting; adjust plans as needed.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and regulations.
• Seek innovations to optimize processes and outcomes.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Assistant Superintendent to help lead and manage large-scale construction projects. This includes overseeing the entire project lifecycle from feasibility to completion, developing project strategies, plans, and budgets, and assembling qualified project teams. The role also involves scheduling, coordinating, and supervising craft employee activities, which may include supervising various trade groups (electricians, boilermakers, and carpenters) in different construction disciplines such as, civil, structural, electrical.

You will work from a long-term project in Van Buren Township, MI. You can be located anywhere in the US, if you are highly willing to travel to our client projects on a long-term basis.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

• Project Planning and Strategy: Plan and supervise construction activities, including determining methods, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules. Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Team Leadership: Coordinate work with different crafts, departments, or contractors. Resolve construction problems and maintain communication with unions.
• Resource Management: Monitor compliance with safety programs and document corrective measures. Ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedules.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, clients, and vendors, to ensure alignment and address any concerns.
• Performance Monitoring: Track project progress through metrics and reporting, adjusting plans as necessary to meet changing requirements or challenges.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all deliverables meet the required quality standards and compliance regulations.
• Innovation and Improvement: Continuously seek ways to optimize processes and improve project outcomes through innovative technologies or methodologies.

Qualifications

To qualify for the role, you must have

• A high school diploma or equivalent, and five (5) + years supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, commercial or industrial projects.
• Must have experience working on Commercial or Industrial projects with budgets of at least $15M.
• Experience in MEP, Concrete, Steel, Underground Utilities, Fire Alarm, Building Finishes and Enclosure systems.
• A valid driver's license in the US and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel; travel is estimated at 70+%.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, and cost control.
• Experience supervising, motivating and mentoring cross-functional teams.
• Successful background maintaining high safety standards and delivering quality outcomes.
