Job summary

Walbridge is expanding our team and looking for a Construction Assistant Superintendent to help deliver a data center project. You will lead large-scale construction efforts, manage the full lifecycle, and coordinate with diverse trades on a long-term site in Van Buren Township, MI with substantial travel to client projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five+ years' supervisory experience in facility construction technology, commercial or industrial projects.
• Experience on Commercial or Industrial projects with budgets of at least $15M.
• Experience in MEP, Concrete, Steel, Underground Utilities, Fire Alarm, Building Finishes and Enclosure systems.
• Valid US driver's license and valid passport; willingness to travel up to 70%.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise construction activities from feasibility through completion.
• Develop project strategies, plans, and budgets; assemble qualified teams.
• Schedule, coordinate, and supervise craft employees and multiple trade groups.
• Coordinate with unions; ensure safety programs compliance.
• Monitor project progress with metrics and adapt plans as needed.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and adoption of new technologies.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Assistant Superintendent to help lead and manage large-scale construction projects. This includes overseeing the entire project lifecycle from feasibility to completion, developing project strategies, plans, and budgets, and assembling qualified project teams. The role also involves scheduling, coordinating, and supervising craft employee activities, which may include supervising various trade groups (electricians, boilermakers, and carpenters) in different construction disciplines such as, civil, structural, electrical.

Location

You will work from a long-term project in Van Buren Township, MI. You can be located anywhere in the US, if you are highly willing to travel to our client projects on a long-term basis.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

• Project Planning and Strategy: Plan and supervise construction activities, including determining methods, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules. Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Team Leadership: Coordinate work with different crafts, departments, or contractors. Resolve construction problems and maintain communication with unions.
• Resource Management: Monitor compliance with safety programs and document corrective measures. Ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedules.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, clients, and vendors, to ensure alignment and address any concerns.
• Performance Monitoring: Track project progress through metrics and reporting, adjusting plans as necessary to meet changing requirements or challenges.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all deliverables meet the required quality standards and compliance regulations.
• Innovation and Improvement: Continuously seek ways to optimize processes and improve project outcomes through innovative technologies or methodologies.

Qualifications

To qualify for the role, you must have

• A high school diploma or equivalent, and five (5) + years supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, commercial or industrial projects.
• Must have experience working on Commercial or Industrial projects with budgets of at least $15M.
• Experience in MEP, Concrete, Steel, Underground Utilities, Fire Alarm, Building Finishes and Enclosure systems.
• A valid driver's license in the US and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel; travel is estimated at 70+%.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, and cost control.
• Experience supervising, motivating and mentoring cross-functional teams.
• Successful background maintaining high safety standards and delivering quality outcomes.
