You will coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and inspectors, conduct daily site walks, attend safety meetings, and help with logistics and documentation to keep projects on track.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret design drawings and specifications.

  • Supervisory construction experience is preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting the Superintendent and Project Managers in the successful completion of assigned projects. The Assistant Superintendent participates in overseeing job-site safety and quality, project scheduling, and communication with the architect and consultants on field and constructability issues.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Superintendent with managing job site safety, quality, and schedule for assigned projects from pre-construction to closeout
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships and communication with client, construction manager, project team, consultants/architect/engineers, subcontractors, adjacent community, governmental agencies.
  • Ensure JFC standards of quality and safety are adhered to by assertively championing JFC safety culture to project team and subcontractors
  • Interact with building officials, owners, subcontractors, vendors, and anyone else necessary for the successful operation of the construction process.
  • In collaboration with the Superintendent, perform daily job site walks and submit daily safety audit reports.
  • Conduct and/or attend meetings, pre-task meetings, safety meetings, and project staff meetings.
  • Assist and work collaboratively with the Project Manager, project team members, and field employees.
  • Assist with setting up job site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule.
  • Participate in the review of all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with building inspections, subcontractor inspections, and agencies.
  • Assist with the management of job site labor production and performance.
  • Maintain and update project records.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all on-site compliance with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules and company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret all design drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient understanding of all aspects of the scheduling process.
  • Ability to understand and implement work scopes for every trade category on the project.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to understand and track all daily operations of his projects.
  • Proficient computer skills are necessary to work on the company or owner-required construction software platform.
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes.
  • Excellent understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks while working under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work additional hours to include weekends if needed.
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Sciences is preferred; and/or extensive experience in the construction industry (7 years preferred).
  • Four (4) plus years of related construction experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
  • Regularly sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • Regularly climb stairs or ladders, etc.
  • Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Exposure to the outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
