Yates Construction Co. is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent, oversee labor on the project, and begin to manage areas of responsibility using foundational construction knowledge.

This role involves reviewing contract documents, specs and drawings, coordinating with trade labor, attending meetings, and helping with planning, schedules, and change management to ensure contract compliance and quality on site.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or higher preferred in construction management, engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of basic construction and/or engineering principles.
• Knowledge of basic business principles to project and monitor expenses.

Responsabilités

• Accomplishing tasks assigned by the Superintendent and communicating progress.
• Assisting Superintendent with planning manpower.
• Reviewing and becoming familiar with project contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
• Participating in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns, taking minutes as required.
• Providing field support to ensure contract compliance, quality control and site maintenance.
• Assisting in developing scopes of work for each subcontractor.
• Assisting with constructability reviews.
• Attending preconstruction meetings with subcontractors before each phase of work.
• Assisting with project close-out.
• Coordinating punch list items and procedures.
• Managing project permit process.
• Planning weekly work activities for a trade crew and labor needs.
• Supporting and participating in schedule development and updates.
• Assisting with change management by reviewing quotations for IOCC and Change Orders.
• Review and distribute RFIs, submittals under supervision.
• Assisting in developing and maintaining the site logistics plan.

The Assistant Superintendent (ASUPI) is responsible for performing tasks as assigned by the Superintendent. The ASUPI oversees trade labor in particular areas of the project as determined by management. Develops and applies foundational construction knowledge to begin to manage areas of responsibility.

Primary Duties:

• Accomplishing tasks assigned by the Superintendent and communicating their progress.
• Assisting Superintendent with planning manpower
• Reviewing and becoming familiar with project contract documents, specifications,
• and drawings
• Participating in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns, taking minutes
• as required.
• Providing field support to construction superintendents and project managers to help
• ensure contract compliance, quality control and maintenance of the site.
• Assisting in developing scopes of work for each subcontractor
• Assisting with constructability reviews
• Attending preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors prior to beginning each
• phase of work
• Assisting with the completion of project close-out
• Assisting in coordinating punch list items and procedures
• Assisting in management of project permit process
• Assisting with planning weekly work activities for a trade crew

Qualifications:

• An undergraduate University degree or higher (preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred. Other relevant education, training or work experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of basic construction and/or engineering principles.
• Knowledge of basic business principles is sufficient to project and monitor expenses.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical
• manuals, product/material installation instructions and engineering/architectural
• drawings.
