Job summary

John Moriarty & Associates is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support field operations on ground-up high-rise residential, mixed-use, and higher education projects across the DC Metro area.

This hands-on, field-first role offers daily involvement in the field and a clear path toward a full Superintendent position, with mentorship from experienced Superintendents on large-scale, high-impact work. Candidates should have 3–5+ years of field experience and OSHA 30.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of field construction experience on large commercial projects.
• Experience on ground-up high-rise residential, mixed-use, or higher education sites.
• OSHA 30 certification or eligible.
• Procore and Bluebeam proficiency; P6 scheduling a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent with day-to-day field supervision and trade coordination.
• Enforce site safety standards and OSHA compliance.
• Track schedule progress and communicate delays to PM team.
• Coordinate subcontractors and site logistics.
• Maintain quality control, punch lists, and field documentation.

JM-A (John Moriarty & Associates) is looking for an Assistant Superintendent to support field operations on ground-up high-rise residential, mixed-use, and higher education projects across the DC Metro area. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on, field-first professional to grow their career under experienced Superintendents on large-scale, high-impact work.

The Opportunity

• Assistant Superintendent: Support field leadership and trade coordination on active ground-up projects
• Ideal for a candidate who wants direct, daily involvement in the field and a clear path toward a full Superintendent role

What You'll Be Doing

• Support the Superintendent in day-to-day field supervision and trade coordination
• Help enforce site safety standards and maintain OSHA compliance on-site
• Track schedule progress and flag delays or conflicts to the Superintendent and PM team
• Coordinate subcontractor activities and daily site logistics
• Maintain quality control walkthroughs and punch list tracking
• Support project meetings and daily field documentation

What You Bring

• 3-5+ years of construction field experience, large-scale commercial preferred
• Experience on ground-up high-rise residential, mixed-use, or higher education projects specifically — not renovation or interior build-out
• OSHA 30 certified or eligible
• Working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling tools (P6 a plus)
• Comfortable supporting and reporting to a Superintendent, with room to grow into team leadership
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-oriented — a team builder who takes ownership on-site
• Daily driving distance to DC Metro job sites (no relocation/travel model)
