Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the golf course budget and capital plans with the superintendent.
• Supervise maintenance staff in daily duties and organize tasks.
• Plan and direct maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs and bunkers.
• Oversee planting and cultural practices for turf, trees, and ornamentals.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and compliant with safety rules.
• Help procure supplies and manage costs within budget limits.
• Keep maintenance records and assist with required reports.
• Follow purchasing procedures and coordinate with preferred vendors.
• Reconcile invoices, payroll and other documents timely.
• Coordinate snow removal as needed and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Ensure associates hold proper licenses and training.
• Manage department staff including roles like Mechanic and Greenskeeper.
• Provide orientation and ongoing training for new associates.
• Monitor workload forecasts and plan manpower and costs accordingly.
• Maintain regular attendance and safe work practices.

Experience Required

• Bachelors degree, Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from four- or two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to four years related experience and/or training.
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Pesticide Application License.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with arms and hands, and talk or hear.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

Essential Responsibilities

• Work with the Superintendent to ensure the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
• Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
• Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
• Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.
• Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with required reports.
• Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
• Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
• Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
• Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations.
• Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
• Provide orientation and training to new associates and develop ongoing training programs.
• Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
