General Summary & Scope

The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. This temporary position prepares talent for a stylist role, focusing on guest service, performance, and technical skill development. Mentored by an Elite or Master Stylist, the role involves assisting initially and then servicing guests independently after 3-6 months.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

As a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, the Assistant Stylist performs duties including:

• Delivering exceptional guest service and supporting sales and loyalty goals.
• Supporting and performing hair services after three months, including cuts, color, styling, and treatments.
• Driving sales through product demonstrations and in-store promotions.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services.

People

• Developing guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins, under mentorship.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with policies, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Following service protocols and maintaining store standards.
• Utilizing booking systems and communicating supply needs.
• Attending training and adhering to dress code.

Job Qualifications

Education: Cosmetology license required.

Skills: Knowledge of salon techniques, product sales, communication, teamwork, and client relationship building.

Special Position Requirements: Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions: Mobility, standing, lifting, and use of equipment as described.
