The role includes orientation, handling infractions, maintaining records, coordinating hearings, and serving as a liaison with juvenile and law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Juvenile Justice or Human Services.
  • Experience in handling disciplinary matters and working with youth is preferred.
  • Valid State Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in orientation of new students to the disciplinary system.
  • Discuss infractions of Center rules with individual students.
  • Maintain weekly restriction lists and disciplinary records.
  • Maintain each student’s disciplinary record and related documents.
  • Inform students of hearings and required procedures.
  • Coordinate with Juvenile and law enforcement agencies as needed.
  • Support the Student Personnel Officer and act as Manager/Officer when required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and Center policies and procedures.

DEPARTMENT: Student Personnel Officer

REPORTS TO: Student Personnel Officer

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: Provides support to Student Personnel Officer. Responsible for management of Center’s Behavior Management System providing training to staff and students in the system and for meeting with Student Government to assess need for changes in the system.

Duties
  • Assists in orientation of new students to the disciplinary system and penalties that may be incurred.
  • Provides assistance and discusses infractions of Center rules and regulations with individual student based on Negative and Positive Incident Reports from center staff.
  • Assists in distributing weekly restriction list to appropriate Center personnel.
  • Assists in maintenance of records of all activities relating to Center discipline.
  • Assists in maintaining each student's disciplinary record.
  • Informs students of appropriate appointments to appear before the Disciplinary Council or Student Personnel Manager.
  • Informs students of required disciplinary hearings and the appropriate procedures for disciplinary decisions.
  • Assists in maintaining and submitting weekly activity report, percentage of class attendance, number of infractions reports, dorm incidents, dorm cleanliness, etc.
  • Assists in ensuring that students moving to another phase of program meet disciplinary guidelines.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a liaison with juvenile and law enforcement agencies in relation to their influence on the student population.
  • Assists Student Personnel Officer in all aspects of student personnel.
  • Acts as Student Personnel Manager/Officer.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards, continuously assisting students to become more employable.
  • Participation in PRH mandated staff training is mandatory.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience: Degree from a four-year college or university and/or related experience in Juvenile Justice or Human Services. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. Valid State Driver’s License.
