Job summary

Position Title

Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Location

Hanover, NH – Floren Varsity House

Job Overview

Design, implement, and manage comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for NCAA Division I teams, fostering athletic performance, injury prevention, and a culture of championship habits within the daily training environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development
    • Collaborate with head coaches to schedule, supervise, and motivate athletes and teams.
    • Develop year‑round sport‑specific training plans covering resistance, cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, agility, and speed.
    • Continuously research and incorporate cutting‑edge strength and conditioning practices.
    • Communicate and coordinate with team medical staff, nutritionists, and other specialists.
    • Assess and refine programs to maximize performance outcomes.
  • Education, Training, and Evaluation
    • Conduct orientation sessions for varsity teams, explaining training modalities and risk management.
    • Teach Olympic movements, acceleration, agility drills, speed, and flexibility techniques.
    • Evaluate athletes to identify weaknesses, imbalances, and flexibility issues; design corrective programs.
    • Perform pre‑ and post‑participation testing, prepare and present evaluation reports.
  • Communication
    • Document athletes’ workout attendance, performance, and test results.
    • Report findings to coaches and provide recommendations for program adjustments.
    • Represent the College’s athletic program and assist in recruitment by engaging prospective student‑athletes.
  • Professional/Staff Development
    • Select, train, and supervise strength and conditioning interns and student workers.
    • Active participation in professional development activities, including national association membership.
    • Maintain continuing education credits for certifications.
  • Facility Scheduling and Management
    • Assist with scheduling, maintenance, and supervision of the varsity weight room.
    • Coordinate with the Athletic Facilities Office to schedule agility, speed, and conditioning sessions.
    • Enforce weight‑room policies and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification through the NSCA (CSCS) or CSCCa (SCCC).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in NCAA Division I, professional, or Olympic settings.
  • Proficiency in performance technology (e.g., Catapult, force plates).
  • Strong background and interest in soccer.
  • Effective leadership, strong communication skills, and a motivational teaching style.
  • Knowledge of training for injured athletes and performance nutrition.
  • Proficient computer skills with emphasis on Excel spreadsheets.
  • Commitment to diversity and serving a diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in exercise science or a related field.
