Job summary

City of La Crosse seeks an Assistant Superintendent for the Street Department to assist in daily operations and oversee activities in the Superintendent's absence. The role includes scheduling projects, preparing work orders, and directing snow removal while maintaining department discipline and safety.

The position reports to the Street Superintendent and requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, with a starting salary in the low-to-mid $80k range and full City benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three to five years of progressively responsible street maintenance/construction experience.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in scheduling projects.
• Prepares work orders.
• Allocates personnel and equipment.
• Monitors work in progress and checks completed projects.
• Directs snow removal and ice control.
• Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints and comments regarding department activities.
• Receives Highway Department related after hours calls and supervises staff called out for after hours.
• Maintains regular and predictable on-site attendance.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Three to five years of progressively responsible street maintenance/construction experience
