Job summary

The City of La Crosse is accepting applications for temporary summer laborers in the Street Department. These positions handle street maintenance, snow removal oversight, and refuse/recycling operations. Work weeks range from 10–40 hours with hours Mon–Fri 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., plus some weekends and nights.

Starting wage is $18.00 per hour. Positions start 5/1/2026 and end 10/30/2026. These are limited-term roles with no benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor, maintenance & repair such as line painting & lawn care.
• Perform routine buildings & grounds maintenance such as light janitorial work.
• Assist at the yard waste site.
• Assist with construction projects.
• Vehicle operation.
• Possible night shifts as a part of a crew.
