Goodwill Central Coast is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead daily retail operations, coach team members, and deliver an outstanding donor and customer experience. The role requires a customer-focused leader who can drive sales and maintain store standards in a fast-paced environment.

You will oversee staff, handle cash transactions, and ensure compliance with policies while supporting the mission to turn donations into opportunity for the Central Coast community.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of retail sales experience; leadership preferred.
• Experience operating cash registers and handling cash transactions.
• Strong customer service, communication, and team leadership skills.
• English communication required; basic Spanish preferred.

Mansioni

• Oversee store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing training to store team members.
• Deliver exceptional customer and donor service.
• Assist customers with product selections and complete sales transactions.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and bank deposit functions.
• Monitor sales floor presentation, merchandise rotation, and markdowns.
• Ensure the store remains clean, organized, and safe for customers, donors, employees, and visitors.
• Identify donated items suitable for e-commerce sales.
• Prepare donations and merchandise transfers to the processing plant.
• Communicate operational concerns, safety issues, and customer concerns to store leadership.
• Support staff performance discussions and provide feedback to the Store Manager.
• Assist with donor intake and donation processing as needed.
• Perform sanitizing, housekeeping, and other related duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager who is customer-focused, dependable, and an effective team leader to support daily retail operations and ensure an outstanding shopping and donation experience.

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of retail sales experience or equivalent, including at least six months in a lead sales associate capacity.
• Experience operating cash registers and handling cash transactions.
• Strong customer service, communication, and team leadership skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; basic Spanish preferred.
• Basic math skills and the ability to learn store procedures and systems.

Qualifications: Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and use material handling equipment such as carts, racks, and hand trucks.
• Ability to use cash registers, computers, and other retail equipment.
• Normal or corrected vision, hearing, and communication abilities sufficient to perform essential job functions.
