General Description
This role involves generating sales, controlling expenses, supervising associates, and ensuring store operations align with company policies and standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Generate Sales
- Achieve sales targets by providing excellent customer service.
- Meet or exceed individual sales goals and company objectives.
- Provide documented feedback on sales performance, highlighting strengths and opportunities.
- Maintain visual standards, including merchandising, signage, and cleanliness.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Dress Code Policy.
Control Expenses
- Protect company assets following retail policies.
- Assist in scheduling to ensure proper store coverage within wage control guidelines.
- Manage inventory accurately, including receiving, transferring, pricing, and counting.
- Maintain proper documentation and record keeping per policies and legal requirements.
- Open and close the store following operational procedures.
- Support adherence to all store policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Supervise Associates
- Participate in training programs and meet set sales and operational goals.
- Assist in recruiting and training staff on store operations.
- Ensure compliance with policies regarding inventory, funds, and property.
- Perform duties of subordinates when necessary.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Required Knowledge & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent plus at least one year of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to meet sales targets and minimize loss.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer operation and relevant software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work with hands overhead.
- Stand for up to 100% of work time.
- Ability to work independently.
Additional Job Details
Assistant store managers earn between 10% and 20% above local minimum wage, based on experience. Compensation varies by skills, experience, and location. Part-time assistant managers are eligible for monthly sales bonuses and a 40% employee discount.
