Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for proficiency in all areas of a retail operation. The role serves as the second in charge of operations to the Store Manager, providing leadership and direction to the store team, ensuring a positive customer shopping experience, and performing operational activities throughout the store. The position also promotes a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, and involves training Team Members on policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

It is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, capable of fulfilling all the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and be able to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following policies and procedures.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM): Thank the Customer, Engage with the customer and/or pet, Advise on products or services, Make it Memorable.
• Perform a range of duties including assisting Store Manager, supporting staff, executing merchandising, managing cash, and ensuring safety and animal care standards.
• Complete all documentation related to job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Previous retail leadership experience is required. Experience with pet/live animals is strongly preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Ability to perform all Team Member responsibilities.
• Knowledge of pet/live animals, pet food, and pet products preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving, basic computer skills.

Working Conditions

• Indoor and outdoor work with moderate noise; shifts generally no less than 4 hours.
• Maintain a safe environment adhering to safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting, standing, kneeling, and moving throughout the store.
• Operate store equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to complete documentation and communicate effectively.
• Ability to travel and operate a vehicle as needed.
