Job summary

DICK'S Sporting Goods in Paramus, NJ seeks an Assistant Store Manager for Off Field Operations. You will drive operational excellence behind the scenes by leading inventory, fulfillment, and stockroom execution, ensuring processes run efficiently and the store stays athlete-ready at all times.

You will supervise a Captain (Supervisor) team, oversee staffing, payroll, and scheduling, and partner with the Store Manager to hire, develop, and coach teammates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 1-3 years of experience
• 1-3 of retail management experience (or customer-focused experience) required

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Store Manager to contribute to developing and executing full-year business growth plans, including forecasting and planning 90+ days out.
• Directly manages a team of Captains (Supervisors) and indirectly manages broader store team through influence, coaching, and development.
• Upholds company merchandising and presentation standards by ensuring compliant execution of floor sets, signage, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment.
• Demonstrates the ability to lead, execute and validate key training initiatives and develop plans with teammates.
• Partners with Store Manager on long-range management of the store workforce and staffing plans, payroll, and scheduling.
• Hires and builds strong teams by partnering with Store Manager and Captain team; owns hiring decisions for Captain and hourly population.
• Holds teammates accountable for meeting operational guidelines, safety, policies, and customer service expectations
