Position Purpose:
Assistant Store Managers in Training are learning the various responsibilities and functions of the following roles: Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager, and Specialty Assistant Store Manager. They will learn how to support the Store Manager in developing strategies and objectives to drive store sales and profitability, and how to communicate effectively with their Associates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Supervise Associates in selling efforts, ensure the store's in-stock position, and maintain an appealing and organized store appearance. Support staffing, scheduling, resolving stock deficiencies, and addressing customer issues.
- Supervising Store Associates: Interview, hire, motivate, coach, train, develop, and communicate with associates. Learn the performance management process, including semi-annual reviews and disciplinary procedures.
- Operations Management: Supervise front-end processes, sales, returns, special services, and lot support. Oversee receiving and freight teams, maintain store equipment and systems, and manage daily financial operations. Develop understanding of store SOPs, especially safety compliance.
- Business Analysis and Merchandise Planning: Drive department profitability through sales trend analysis. Collaborate with key partners to plan merchandise placement and signage. Support inventory management and stock integrity.
Reporting and Supervision:
Report to a Store Manager. Upon completing training, gradually assume accountability for supervising associates.
Travel and Physical Requirements:
- Overnight travel less than 10%.
- Mostly sitting with occasional movement; lifting light articles may be required.
Working Conditions:
Indoor, comfortable environment with infrequent unpleasant conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older.
- Legally permitted to work in the U.S.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of work experience.
Leadership and Certifications:
- No prior leadership experience required.
- No certifications required.
