POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in fostering a customer and product-focused sales culture, aligning store operations with our values and principles. Responsibilities include managing sales, asset protection, and HR functions to ensure an excellent customer experience and profitability. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Culture
  • Analyze sales reports and KPIs; collaborate with Store Manager to execute business and sales strategies.
  • Set clear expectations; hold team accountable for brand, performance, and behavior standards.
  • Manage payroll and supply budgets.
  • Oversee operational activities: scheduling, audits, inventory, opening/closing, timesheets, and merchandise flow.
  • Handle financial activities: cash handling, price changes, register transactions, ensuring accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and procedures; train associates accordingly.
  • Manage inventory receipt, dispatch, replenishment, and physical inventories.
  • Maintain visual presentation and facility standards reflective of the brand.
  • Develop a high-performance sales team to meet sales and productivity goals.
  • Train and coach staff on product knowledge and sales techniques.
Building High Performing Teams
  • Motivate and inspire the team, fostering a shared vision and core values.
  • Promote inclusive problem-solving and effective communication.
  • Seek personal development and feedback to enhance leadership skills.
Customer Experience
  • Model and promote MAPS principles, offering a cohesive omni-channel experience.
  • Utilize sales techniques and product knowledge to assist customers.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly.
  • Ensure efficient checkout processes and adherence to payment policies.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers via loyalty programs and engagement strategies.
Talent Management
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and developing the team.
  • Support training initiatives and performance assessments.
  • Address HR issues effectively and timely.
  • Drive employee engagement through recognition and rewards.
  • Ensure adherence to employment policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years retail management preferred
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adaptability to technology
  • Proven customer service and sales leadership
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Leadership, training, and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of store operations
  • Effective communication with staff and customers
  • Reliable attendance and flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Constant walking/standing (67-100%)
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (1-33%)
  • Frequent climbing (34-66%)
