Job summary

Big Lots at Wake Forest, NC is seeking an Assistant Manager/Key Carrier to provide excellent customer service and support the Store Manager with daily operations to achieve company goals.

The role includes hiring and training staff, managing store functions, safeguarding assets, maintaining stockrooms and the sales floor, and supervising hourly Team Members in the manager's absence. Flexibility for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise weighing up to 50lbs; meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and repetitive lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Open/close procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain all areas of the store, including stockroom and sales floor, to company standards incl. recovery.
• Direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Team Members when the Store Manager is not on the premises.
• Process all SSC Corporate directives.
• Assist with receipt and return of DSD merchandise and management of freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Assist with ordering and stocking all merchandise needs.
• Maintain stockroom organization.
• Ensure the sales floor is sales effective daily.
• Plan and implement all directives in the Store Operations Weekly Bulletin.

Summary
