Job summary

Big Lots is seeking motivated individuals at its Mobile, AL location to support store operations and provide excellent customer service. As Assistant Manager/Key Carrier, you will assist the Store Manager in daily tasks and help lead the store team to meet company goals.

You will participate in hiring, training, and directing hourly staff, handle opening/closing duties, protect assets, and ensure a professional environment.

Qualifications

• Retail and/or leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to work flexible, full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and moving merchandise as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards including recovery.
• Direct hourly Team Members when Store Manager is not on premises.
• Process SSC Corporate directives.
• Assist with receipt and return of DSD merchandise and management of freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Assist with ordering and stocking merchandise and maintaining stockroom organization.
• Ensure the sales floor is sales-effective daily.
• Plan and implement directives from the Store Operations Weekly Bulletin.

Summary

As a Big Lots Assistant Manager/Key Carrier you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our customers and supporting the Store Manager with the overall operation of the store to achieve company deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager

• Assist the Store Manager in ordering and stocking all merchandise needs.

• Assist the Store Manager in ensuring that the sales floor is sales effective daily.
• Assist the Store Manager in planning and implementing all directives in the Store Operations Weekly Bulletin.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills
• Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise weighing up to 50lbs from floor level to above shoulder height; must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
