GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing and supervising all areas assigned by the Store Manager, following policies related to Customers, Associates, and merchandising. Responsible for learning all aspects of Store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager leads the entire store to ensure company standards and best practices are maintained.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Operating Requirements:
- Lead all Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
- Assist in analyzing store reports to evaluate expenses and performance.
- Communicate variances to standards to the Store Manager.
- Ensure proper scheduling of Associates to meet business needs.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Schedule and oversee cleaning tasks, including restrooms.
- Accept special assignments from leadership.
- Manage payroll administration, including punch edits, scheduling compliance, and reporting.
Organizational Development:
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing non-exempt Associates.
- Ensure compliance with Ross policies and procedures.
- Assist with Associate Relations issues by communicating incidents to leadership.
Expense Control:
- Monitor expenditures to stay within budget.
- Control payroll hours to match business trends.
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
- Ensure Associates understand emergency procedures.
- Maintain adherence to safety policies to protect everyone.
- Facilitate monthly safety meetings.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers and Associates with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Implement customer service and merchandise presentation programs through training and supervision.
- Supervise and coach Associates in providing friendly service across all areas.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance according to dress code.
- Ensure the store environment is clean, neat, and easy to shop.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
- Oversee cleaning tasks, including restrooms.
Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing:
- Ensure merchandise recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Organize merchandise according to guidelines.
- Manage merchandise processing efficiently to the sales floor.
Loss Prevention:
- Train Associates on Loss Prevention awareness and goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain a strong customer service presence to prevent loss.
- Assist with inventory processes and monitor policies.

Qualifications and Skills:
- At least two years of Store or Assistant Store Manager experience.
- Ability to motivate, supervise, and communicate positively.
- Handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and follow through.
- Set priorities and exercise judgment.
- Maintain high customer service standards.
- Fluency in English.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Basic math skills used in retail.
Physical Requirements/ADA:
- Operate store equipment as required.
- Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the time.
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial and store equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of all non-exempt Associates.
