The Job in a Nutshell: The Assistant Store Manager is the second in command of the store, responsible for its successful operation and profitability, including training, directing, and monitoring all department staff.

Salary: USD $59,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  1. Provide excellent customer service, greeting and assisting customers per company standards.
  2. Lead and develop staff professionally, handle customer complaints appropriately.
  3. Maintain an inviting, well-stocked, and shoppable store environment.
  4. Ensure product availability, handle special orders, and monitor stock levels.
  5. Answer phones professionally and assist on the sales floor at least 75% of the time.
  6. Train staff in customer service, ensure compliance with food safety certifications.
  7. Meet and exceed sales, EBITDA, and operational metrics.
  8. Oversee product ordering, inventory, markdowns, and product mix.
  9. Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff performance.
  10. Ensure safety guidelines are followed and store paperwork is completed timely.
  11. Support store manager in coaching staff and managing daily operations.
  12. Handle scheduling, communication, and operational tasks as needed.
  13. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, approximately 45 hours/week.
  14. Lead by example, uphold professional standards, and adapt to changing demands.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; 1-2 years management experience in grocery/retail, natural foods preferred.
  • Ability to manage priorities, pass food safety training, and obtain forklift certification.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent customer service, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
