Position Summary

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store in the absence of the Store Manager. They are responsible for maximizing store sales and profitability, minimizing expenses, ensuring the store is well-stocked and merchandised, and contributing to a positive customer experience. An Assistant Store Manager also plays a role in the growth and development of the management team and store associates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sales and Operations
  • Hire, train, develop, and evaluate store staff, providing ongoing feedback and recognition.
  • Monitor store evaluations to identify opportunities and address issues promptly.
  • Supervise staff to meet sales goals and follow company procedures.
  • Delegate tasks to ensure merchandising standards are met.
  • Participate in staff evaluations and provide coaching for improvement.
  • Ensure merchandising updates comply with company standards.
  • Collaborate with vendors on merchandising strategies and planograms.
  • Forecast staffing needs and create work schedules.
  • Monitor payroll and control expenses.
  • Coordinate staffing decisions with management and HR.
  • Implement in-store marketing strategies, including promotions and seasonal merchandising.
Customer Service
  • Promote and exemplify exceptional customer service daily.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and resolve issues quickly.
  • Use team meetings and communication tools to motivate and inform staff.
  • Review customer feedback reports and work on continuous improvement.
Inventory
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels through proper stock management and reporting.
  • Use inventory reports to reduce shrinkage and optimize stock levels.
Coaching and Training
  • Engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Identify and oversee training needs for staff, including onboarding and vendor training.
Safety, Compliance, and Store Environment
  • Enforce safety policies and serve as a safety role model.
  • Maintain store appearance and conduct safety inspections.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience in retail or customer service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with retail computer systems.
  • Ability to build relationships and maintain partnerships.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, reach, and bend for extended periods.
  • Lift and handle merchandise up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment
