Job description

Position Purpose

Assistant Store Managers in Training are learning the various responsibilities and functions of roles such as Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager, and Specialty Assistant Store Manager. They will learn how to support the Store Manager in developing strategies and objectives to drive store sales and profitability through effective leadership and communication with their Associates.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervising customer service initiatives, including supervising Associates in selling efforts, ensuring the store's in-stock position, and maintaining an appealing and organized store appearance. This includes staffing and scheduling, resolving stock deficiencies, supervising selling behaviors, resolving customer issues, and supporting service needs for installed sales, special orders, and product sales.
  2. Supervising Store Associates by interviewing, hiring, motivating, coaching, training, developing, and communicating with them. Learning the performance management process, including semi-annual reviews and disciplinary procedures.
  3. Managing operations, including supervising front-end processes involving sales and returns, special services, and lot support. Overseeing back-end processes such as receiving and stocking merchandise, maintaining store equipment, and managing daily financial operations while adhering to SOPs, especially safety compliance.
  4. Driving business analysis and merchandise planning by analyzing sales trends, working with key partners for merchandise placement and signage, and supporting inventory management to ensure stock integrity.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports

Reports to a Store Manager. Upon completing training, will gradually assume supervision of associate work activities.

Travel Requirements

Typically less than 10% overnight travel.

Physical Requirements

Primarily sitting with frequent movement; occasional lifting of light articles.

Working Conditions

Indoor, comfortable environment; infrequent unpleasant conditions.
