Job description

Position Summary:

Assistant Managers support the Store Manager and other team members in delivering an outstanding guest shopping experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the store team’s Guest Service behaviors, providing coaching to ensure they greet all guests in a friendly manner, making them feel welcomed and appreciated, and always “make it right” for our guests.
  2. Support the Store Manager in building and developing a strong team through effective training, scheduling, coaching, and fostering an engaging work environment that promotes the Company’s values.
  3. Partner with the Store Manager to achieve operational excellence and meet financial objectives related to store promotions, sales, and controls.
  4. Assist in maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the store (inside and out), ensuring the coffee station is clean and stocked, the food service area is spotless, and bathrooms are sparkling, delegating tasks as needed.
  5. Assist with quality control, merchandising, safety programs, and other guidelines for successful food service operations. Monitor product levels on the sales floor, including coolers and freezers, rotate stock, and keep product levels full to meet guest demand and achieve 100% in-stock goals.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Person in Charge in the absence of the Store Manager.
  7. Must be able to perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Working Relationships: Store team members, Store Manager, District Manager, and various Corporate personnel and vendors.

Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Education: N/A

Minimum Experience: 1 year of retail or food service experience; completion of Assistant Manager Training program before assignment.

Preferred Experience: 1-2 years in retail, guest service, or restaurant management.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications and Skills: ServSafe / Food Safety certification is a plus but not mandatory.

Soft Skills:

  • Comfortable interacting with guests and team members.
  • High energy and ability to transition quickly between activities.
  • Team-oriented; willing to give extra effort to assist others.
  • Computer skills are helpful.

Scheduling: Primarily second shifts, opposite the Store Manager, with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Hours & Conditions: Full-time, up to 40 hours per week.

Travel: 5-10% for store coverage and meetings; ability to deliver deposits independently with own vehicle.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 40 pounds occasionally; stand/walk for 8 hours; work in cooler temperatures; perform reaching, bending, squatting, twisting, grasping, and gripping.

Other: Specialized attire (hats, visors, gloves) provided.

Desired previous job experience includes 2 years in retail or non-retail management, with a stable work history and proficient computer skills. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
