Rusty Lantern Markets in Kennebunk, ME is seeking a full-time Assistant Store Manager to lead the fresh departments (meat, deli and prepared foods) and partner with store leadership to deliver quality, safety and outstanding service. You’ll hire, train and develop teammates, champion food safety, and help achieve sales and operational goals in a fast-paced environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys coaching from the floor and making a visible impact on customer experience.

• Must have strong understanding of mid-sized grocery store operations.

• Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across departments.

About the Role

The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) is a key member of the store leadership team, with primary responsibility for our fresh and prepared food departments (meat, deli, and prepared foods).

As the Assistant Store Manager, you’ll partner closely with store leadership to:

• Lead and develop associates
• Ensure food quality, safety, and presentation
• Support daily operations and performance goals
• Create a welcoming environment for customers and teammates alike

What We’re Looking For

• MUST HAVE strong understanding of mid-sized grocery store operations.
• Experience leading or supervising teams in food service, retail, grocery or hospitality
• Comfort working in a fresh food or kitchen-driven environment
• Must have the flexibility to work a second shift schedule, i.e. 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm and weekends.
• Specialization in food service, made to order food items
• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
• Ability to learn systems, processes, and operational standards
• Flexibility to work a second-shift schedule (2:00–10:00 pm) and weekends
• Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

• Department manager or equivalent leadership experience
• Experience across fresh departments (deli, prepared foods, produce, specialty foods, retail)
• Experience in a fast-paced kitchen or made-to-order food environment
