Shady Rays, one of the largest mid-priced sunglasses brands in the U.S., has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Store Manager in our upcoming brand-new store located at CoolSpring Galleria in Franklin, TN!

Overview

The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) position at Shady Rays is a leadership role designed for individuals who are ready to take the next step in their retail career. This role supports the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations, including sales performance, team leadership, customer service, and operational excellence. The ASM is expected to act as a leader on the floor, drive key business initiatives, and contribute to a positive, high-energy work environment.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Act as the second-in-command to the Store Manager, stepping in to lead as needed.
  • Support team development through coaching, training, and real-time feedback to improve performance.
  • Help foster a positive and inclusive team culture that aligns with Shady Rays’ core values.
  • Assist with onboarding new team members and reinforcing best practices.

Sales & Customer Experience

  • Lead by example in engaging customers, driving sales, and delivering top-tier service.
  • Assist in executing strategies to meet or exceed store sales goals and KPIs.
  • Ensure all team members are knowledgeable and confident in product recommendations.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns or escalations professionally.

Operations & Store Execution

  • Assist in managing store opening/closing procedures and daily operational tasks.
  • Oversee inventory management, loss prevention, and stock replenishment.
  • Ensure visual merchandising standards align with company expectations.
  • Monitor store cleanliness, organization, and adherence to company policies.

Collaboration & Brand Engagement

  • Work closely with the Store Manager to implement promotions, events, and marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute ideas to improve store efficiency, team engagement, and customer experience.
  • Represent Shady Rays as a brand ambassador in-store and in the community.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of experience at Shady Rays (or equivalent leadership experience in retail).
  • Strong understanding of store operations, sales strategies, and customer engagement.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and work independently when needed.
  • Comfortable providing feedback, coaching, and leading a team.
  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting the team and store success.
  • Tech-savvy with experience using POS systems and inventory management tools.

Physical Requirements

·Ability to stand for extended periods of time during shift

·Ability to carry, lift, and move merchandise up to 50 lbs as needed
