Bookmans Entertainment Exchange in Flagstaff, AZ seeks a full-time Assistant Store Manager to join our on-site team. This hands-on leadership role focuses on daily store operations, delivering exceptional customer service, supervising staff, and maintaining organized sales floor.

You will oversee scheduling, training, and performance coaching, support loss prevention efforts, manage inventory, and back up the Store Manager when needed.

• Create and monitor daily staffing schedules; manage attendance.

• Advance quality and efficiency in store operations and personnel performance.
• Administer employee corrective actions according to policies.
• Lead and model floor supervision standards for managers on duty.
• Monitor buying, processing, and sales systems.
• Back up the duties of the Store Manager and Operations Manager when absent.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager and President.

We are seeking a full-time Assistant Store Manager to join our team on-site at our Flagstaff, AZ location. Bookmans Entertainment Exchange has been serving Arizona communities for nearly 50 years. We operate five locations in Arizona, specializing in buying, selling, and trading used books, music, movies, video games, musical instruments, and more. Originally a used bookstore, Bookmans has expanded to include various forms of media such as books, video games, music and movies as well as musical instruments, housewares, and collectibles. We buy, sell, and trade with our customers to acquire the majority of our inventory, proudly following a sustainable business model that keeps items out of landfills and gives them new life. Additionally, Bookmans speaks out against censorship and promotes freedom of expression at every turn. This role involves assisting in the management of daily store operations, ensuring excellent customer service, overseeing a team of employees, and maintaining store organization. The Assistant Store Manager will also play a key role in supporting retail loss prevention efforts, handling inventory, and creating a positive shopping experience for all customers.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the Department Leads, Department Supervisors, MODS and Departmental Staff: communicate performance expectations, train to expectations, provide feedback, evaluate/review performance, recognize and address performance achievements and areas for improvement.
• Create and monitor daily store staffing schedules, punctuality and attendance.
• Anticipate and respond to customer needs.
• Advance quality and efficiency in all aspects of store operations and personnel performance.
• Administer employee corrective actions according to established policies and procedures.
• Lead and model expected standards of floor supervision for Managers on Duty.
• Monitor buying, processing, and sales systems.
• Back up the duties of the Store Manager and Operations Manager in their absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager and President.

Job Responsibilities

Must have excellent speaking, listening and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead the team by providing training, coaching and feedback to staff. The successful candidate will have strong proactive problem-solving skills and be able to mediate disagreements, de-escalate situations and always provide excellent customer service. Must be a discreet, approachable, and dependable individual who has excellent customer service skills and can handle difficult customer interactions.
