Responsibilities

Assistant Store Manager

Lead a high-energy retail team and help create an exceptional customer experience as an Assistant Store Manager. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for an experienced retail, grocery, food service, or merchandising professional who enjoys working on the sales floor, developing employees, solving operational challenges, and driving store performance.

• Lead by example on the sales floor while supporting employees, department managers, and customers in a fast-paced retail environment
• Create a positive, professional, and customer-focused store culture
• Engage with customers, answer questions, resolve concerns, and ensure a memorable shopping experience
• Monitor product quality, freshness, rotation, sanitation, and food-safety standards
• Help ensure a safe environment for customers, employees, equipment, and company property
• Enforce store policies, procedures, and operational expectations consistently
• Delegate daily responsibilities and follow up to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time
• Assist with employee scheduling, time and attendance monitoring, and staffing coverage needs
• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop team members
• Address performance concerns and support corrective action when needed, including disciplinary documentation
• Partner with department leaders to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and improve results
• Train employees on the safe and proper use of store equipment
• Support merchandising, selling initiatives, inventory awareness, and overall store presentation

Assistant Store Manager Background Profile:

• Prior leadership experience in retail, grocery, food service, hospitality, or a similar customer-facing environment
• Strong knowledge of perishable products, product rotation, food safety, and quality standards
• Proven ability to coach, train, motivate, and hold employees accountable
• Excellent customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
• Strong organization, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities
• Confidence in making decisions in a busy, fast-moving environment
• Basic computer, math, scheduling, and data-entry skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to travel between local store locations as needed
• Must be at least 21 years old

Retail Grocery Or Specialty Food Experience Preferred

• Strong merchandising and product-presentation skills preferred
• Sales-focused mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve customer engagement and store performance preferred
• Experience managing teams, scheduling employees, or supporting multi-department operations preferred
