Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position's primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, "to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management, such as cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates, and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and acting as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position, including additional high-level duties specific to that role, with most job duties and responsibilities shared.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
- Answer questions regarding store and merchandise.
- Help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs.
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share sales education with Team.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices.
- Achieve personal sales goals and contribute to store sales.
- Provide excellent service in all store areas: Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register.
- Know exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities.
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to meet goals.
- Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business areas, including loyalty programs.
- Expand Guest selection using inventory tools and apps.
- Build and maintain good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
- Lead by example with showmanship, customer service, and attentiveness.
- Recognize and communicate Guest Levels with the Team.
- Ask business-driven questions to Manager, Team Leaders, and Teammates.
- Be coachable and open to feedback to improve sales presentations.
- Perform leadership actions consistently, regardless of Manager presence.
- Plan sales goals with Store Manager.
- Own the store’s sales performance metrics.
- Show passion for product education and showmanship to drive results.
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities via cards, referrals, and recommendations.
- Coach and develop new Teammates, meeting Buckle standards.
- Maintain a positive attitude and create a positive store culture.
- Demonstrate personal dress code aligning with latest fashion.
- Participate in daily setup, training, and reviews using Performance Tracker.
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks.
- Demonstrate and coach denim showmanship and fit cards.
- Create results within your department, balancing all actions and check-ins.
- Execute department calendar actions and track progress.
- Lead segments and involve Guests with product.
- Update fellow leaders and Team regularly.
- Remember and use Guest names effectively.
- Explain merchandise and benefits clearly.
- Assist Store Manager in recruitment and store education focus.
- Keep contact lists updated and attract top talent.
- Train and coach on leadership playbook and store characteristics.
- Train non-sales positions and execute changing sales focuses.
- Identify and address Teammate training needs.
Visual Merchandise Management
- Own product zones, recognize and assign zones and projects.
- Execute and demonstrate new tools and videos for zone ownership.
- Delegate, demonstrate, and review zones with Store Manager.
- Ensure Teammates follow visual standards and checklists.
- Recognize merchandising opportunities and communicate solutions.
- Conduct store tours and ensure freight and displays are proper.
- Use Performance Tracker to improve visual results.
- Anticipate product changes and improve visual performance.
- Maintain visual standards on the sales floor and backroom.
Operations
- Work flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Use planners and complete opening/closing checklists.
- Recognize security risks and thefts, following prevention guidelines.
- Handle calls from Corporate Office appropriately.
- Maintain positive attitude in challenging situations.
- Follow all policies on payments, returns, exchanges, and Loss Prevention.
- Utilize all store tools effectively.
- Complete scheduled shifts and cover when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store.
- Provide feedback on merchandise handling concerns.
- Report policy violations and concerns confidentially.
- Follow the Buckle Code of Ethics and policies.
- Complete all HR and legal paperwork promptly.
- Assist in store planning, markdowns, freight, and inventory management.
- Build relationships with Corporate Departments for store operations.
- Handle emergencies in the Store Manager’s absence.
Supervisory and Leadership
- Give and receive feedback professionally.
- Support and promote leadership and store growth.
- Maintain professional relationships with all Teammates.
- Conduct interviews and support team development.
- Overcome objections and problem-solve.
- Self-educate on company tools and share knowledge.
- Administer Buckle Commitment to Success.
- Travel and cover other stores as needed.
- Handle schedule changes professionally.
- Perform job duties with high customer service and team spirit.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assist the Store Manager in supervising the team.
Education And/or Experience
High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related retail experience/training; or equivalent.

Physical Demands
