Assistant Managers drive sales, services, and customer engagement in the store and ensure the store is ready for business. You and your team will establish customer relationships that build loyalty, provide total solutions to meet customers' needs, and grow the business. Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership in community, customer service, sales, and team development.
- Ensure the store culture embodies Staples values and its commitment to the community.
- Develop a high-performing team focused on providing an exceptional store experience, consultative selling, driving conversions, and providing total solutions to every customer.
- Develop the team through coaching, training, and role-playing.
- Attain sales and service goals, profit margins, and execute store operations.
- Provide daily direction for merchandising opportunities within the store.
- Assist with delegating operational tasks in partnership with the GM.
- Share responsibility for total store operations, cost control, and act as the Floor Leader.
- Champion company initiatives, being adaptable and flexible to change and responsibilities.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 2+ years managing a sales team in retail or services industry.
- Experience managing and coaching a customer-centric, solutions-based team.
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs.
- Strong communication, organization, planning, and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Review results against goals and strategize for growth and improvement.
- Manage conflict cooperatively and reasonably.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Work well in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to lift/move materials weighing 10-50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand/walk continuously.
