Job summary

Athens Ace Hardware in Ohio seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Store Leader to manage day-to-day operations in the Store Leader’s absence, drive sales, uphold core values, and ensure a welcoming, well‑stocked store.

You will supervise staff, coach and develop associates, plan merchandising, coordinate with vendors, monitor customer service metrics, and safeguard safety, while partnering with leadership to maximize profitability and deliver a WOW customer experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience in a retail or customer service setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to motivate and lead associates storewide in a fair and impartial manner
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Technical skills with basic retail computer systems

Responsibilities

• Coordinate supervision of staff to achieve sales goals and follow procedures
• Delegate workload to meet merchandising and visual standards
• Participate in associate evaluations for feedback and growth
• Complete merchandising updates per store standards
• Develop and implement in-store marketing strategies and promotions
• Assist in hiring, training, and development of staff
• Review store evaluations with leadership to identify improvements
• Ensure daily/weekly/monthly task checklists are completed
• Maintain accurate inventory and reduce shrinkage
• Support leadership in coaching and training initiatives
• Uphold safety policies and maintain store appearance
• Conduct safety inspections and address issues
