Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management; share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation/human resources. Perform scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administration & Human Resource-related duties. Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience as department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience
  • Store manager/district manager or direct manager approval

Desired Qualifications:

  • Retail management experience & knowledge of all aspects of store operations
  • Staff supervisory experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist store manager & associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience & develop associate interest in customer service/relations to enhance Kroger's reputation
  • Lead teams in planning, implementing & executing merchandising/operating initiatives
  • Develop action plans/communications based on survey results
  • Identify store opportunities, develop solutions & create action plans
  • Model and demand high levels of customer service & resolve issues
  • Manage total store operations in the absence of the store manager
  • Achieve/exceed sales, wage, profit budgets, and other goals
  • Drive sales and profits, reduce shrink, and improve department contributions
  • Discuss financial performance with associates, develop budgets
  • Analyze the competitive landscape
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership and promote diversity
  • Ensure store departments meet sales/profit goals & execute division plans
  • Build relationships with community organizations and union representatives
  • Communicate effectively with staff
  • Serve as liaison on operational plans
  • Assist with staffing, reducing turnover & increasing retention
  • Provide performance feedback & manage labor costs
  • Ensure legal and policy compliance
  • Supervise and coach staff; conduct performance reviews
