Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking a results-driven Grocery Department Manager to lead day-to-day operations across Dairy, Frozen, and Beer/Liquor, ensuring sales, profitability, quality, and service goals are met.

You will build a strong customer service culture, oversee inventory, merchandising, pricing, and shrink control while coaching department staff and ensuring compliance with food safety and company policies. Flexible, hands-on leadership in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience leading grocery department teams and operations.
• Knowledge of inventory, merchandising, pricing, and promotional practices.
• Strong understanding of profit & loss, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Grocery Department, including Dairy, Frozen Foods, and Beer/Liquor, ensuring sales, profitability, quality, and service goals are achieved.
• Champion customer service initiatives and foster a culture of exceptional customer experience throughout the store.
• Oversee inventory management, product ordering, merchandising, pricing, product rotation, and shrink control to maintain in-stock conditions and maximize profitability
• Supervise, train, coach, schedule, and develop department employees while supporting recruitment, performance management, and succession planning efforts.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, security, company policies, and state and federal regulations.
• Monitor department financial performance by reviewing sales, labor, inventory, and profit and loss results, and implementing action plans to improve outcomes
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and employees while addressing and resolving concerns in a professional manner.
• Direct total store operations and provide leadership to department managers and store employees in the absence of the Store Director.
