POSITION TITLE: Assistant Store Director

DEPARTMENT: Grocery Department

REPORTS TO: Store Director

FLSA STATUS: Exempt – 47 Hours

Job Summary

Share store responsibilities and its operations with the Store Director. Coordinate and direct the overall operations of the store in the absence of the Store Director.

Essential Job Functions

• Actively support the Store Director in fulfilling their responsibilities.
• Manage store personnel.
• Assist Store Director and other managers with employee training and development.
• Greet customers and observe store activity.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and promptly.
• Identify pricing discrepancies and inform relevant personnel.
• Check advertisements and ensure proper displays.
• Maintain all safety standards as directed by Loss Prevention and Risk Management departments.
• Oversee sanitation, housekeeping, and equipment maintenance.
• Contribute to the store's profitability.
• Enforce receiving procedures per company policies.
• Prepare weekly schedules based on sales volume and workload in the absence of the Store Director.
• Plan merchandise displays to maximize sales and profits.
• Monitor dairy, bread, frozen, and grocery shelves for freshness, quality, and price.
• Follow all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

Supplemental Job Functions

• Assist in office tasks as needed.
• Conduct daily refrigeration checks.
• Support other departments as needed.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

• High school diploma required; college education is a plus but not mandatory.
• At least 3 years of supermarket industry management experience.
• Knowledge of store operations.
• Excellent communication skills for dealing with customers, employees, and vendors.
• Basic math skills for calculating discounts, margins, and other figures.
• Ability to verify vendor invoices and complete accounting reports.
• Strong organizational skills.
