General Function
Assist the Department Manager in presenting the freshest, most innovative, and highest quality products at competitive retail prices, while maintaining a positive company image through courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service.

Reporting Relations
Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Manager of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; Coffee Shop Department Manager
Positions reporting to you: Coffee Shop Baristas
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting care, concern, and patience in all interactions.
- Greet customers warmly and make efforts to learn and use their names.
- Assist customers by guiding them to products, securing items out of reach, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along suggestions or requests.
- Answer calls promptly and assist customers with product orders.
- Work with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Handle food safely, keep the work area clean, and ensure food freshness.
- Manage product supply, prepare, replenish, and review invoices as needed.
- Operate registers and process payments accurately.
- Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to company policies.
- Report to work as scheduled and punctually.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, order supplies, price products, assist in other store areas, and perform related duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics
- Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, and perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; food safety courses encouraged; at least one year of related experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Instruct, assign, review, and plan work for others, maintaining standards and coordinating activities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and perform activities such as climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions
This role involves exposure to cool environments, dampness, noise, vibrations, cleaning chemicals, and a fast-paced environment.
Equipment Used
Includes cash registers, slicers, ovens, coffee makers, scales, and other kitchen and retail equipment.
Contacts
Daily contact with customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
Confidentiality
Access to sensitive information such as sales and wages.
The starting hourly wage ranges from $17.00 to $21.25, depending on experience.
